Glass air wash

Having a clean glass is very important and the first question anyone buying a new wood stove or fireplace insert will ask the salesperson is: will my glass remain clean? This is an area of intensive development by many wood stove and fireplace insert manufacturers and HS Flamingo is no different. The key factor is that the fire itself is clean, i.e. the kind of fire wood you use and whether the stove sometimes takes the role of a waste disposal unit. It is essential that the wood is seasoned; we recommend hardwoods from broadleaf trees such as oak or beech. A factor that is no less important is a proper chimney draught and it is always advisable to invite a chimney professional to perform a chimney draught test prior to an installation. A poor draught may result in improper exhaust from the combustion chamber and lead to a dirty glass.

The glass air wash process works by preheating the secondary air, which rises through channels into the upper part of combustion chamber and is then blown on to the glass. This airflow creates a protective barrier between the glass and the products of combustion. It then continues on the fire and combusts gaseous particles. This system is very efficient and is used mainly in HS Flamingo and Aquaflam products.
